In the heart of Tasmania lies Takayna|Tarkine, where nature reigns supreme. Towering myrtle beeches, Huon pines and sassafras form a green canopy above deep rivers. The Southern Ocean crashes against the rugged coast. Takayna hums with life – devils growl among dunes and trees, owl wings flap quietly and birdsong echoes through rainforest.

Takayna is deeply connected to an ancient world, carrying the stories of its First People, who have revered its beauty and power for generations. This place endures largely due to its remoteness and Tasmania’s isolation. However, Takayna’s wild beauty is under threat and urgently needs protection despite decades of public campaigning.

takayna|Tarkine: One of the Last Wild Places on Earth is a richly illustrated hardcover book that passionately pleads for Takayna’s preservation. It features powerful words and stunning photographs from those who know the area best and who are committed to its future.

Tarkine - a forgotten world

A very comprehensive book on this wilderness region in the North West of Tasmania

Beautiful Book

I purchased this book as a gift for a relative, who also loved it. Superb service from AG who promptly replaced the first book due to a fault - I was most grateful that the replacement arrived before Christmas.

Brilliant way to contribute to saving this wilderness gem. As Bob Brown says in book. If we cannot save this wilderness what can be saved. Superb photography and commentary.

Tarkine book

I was looking forward to this new book about the magical Tarkine region in Tasmania. Whilst the writing is good and several of my favourite photographers have contributed their images, sadly the print quality is quite dull and substandard. The images should have been printed on glossier paper, not matte and the colour reproduction leaves a lot to be desired. I bought the book anyway as a mementi and to aid fundraising, but this book should have been so much better. A case of sacrificing print quality to meet a price point unfortunately.
