The colourful modern design of this all-in-one windowsill kit is sure to make this the gift that will impress.

There is nothing better than the sweet taste of strawberries straight off the plant. Strawberry Temptation grows well in pots and with a little care, water and sunlight it will grow indoors all year round.

This kit includes a growing container with drip tray, seeds, soil, wooden labels, chalk & instructions.

How To Grow

These intructions are the same as the ones you will receive in your windowsill grow kit! So if you happen to lose them just come back here!

PREPARE
To provide some drainage, place pebbles into the bottom of the windowsill tin before covering with soil. Put the Jiffy® soil pellets into a large bowl and add about 600ml of lukewarm water. After 10 minutes you will have enough soil to fill your windowsill tin. Loosen the soil with a table fork and put your new soil into the pot. Leave about 10% of the soil in the bowl to use later.

SOW
Place 2 or 3 seeds 2cm apart in groups 12cm apart. Press seeds into the surface of the moist soil. Water lightly and place in a warm well lit spot in your home. To maintain the humidity cover the windowsill pot with cling film. Water regularly just enough to keep moist. Remove the cling film when the first shoots appear, usually in 20-25 days. When the young plants are approximately 5cm tall thin to leave only the 4 strongest plants. This allows the strawberries to have plenty of space to develop. The surplus seedlings can be planted into another pot or direct into the garden from mid spring. Pinch out the first flowers to encourage stronger roots.

CARE
Feed with half strength liquid fertiliser every 28 days to promote healthy growth. Your fresh strawberries will be ready for picking in about 12 weeks.

Harvest: Enjoy sweet juicy strawberries straight from the plant, pick often to encourage more fruit. If you get too many they do freeze well.

FREEZING TIPS
-Wash & dry fruit.
-Remove leaves.
-Place the strawberries on a baking sheet, not touching one another, and freeze until solid.
-Place into a plastic resealable bag and store in the freezer for up to six months.
