Did you Know?
The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik. Originally called the "Magic Cube", the puzzle was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp in 1980.
As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have sold worldwide making it the world's top-selling puzzle game.
Erno's inspiration for the internal mechanism came after noticing how river pebbles had their edges smoothed away.
Now there are several championships held for speed cubing with times being as quick as 4.904 seconds. This record is held by Lucas Etter (US 2015). The longest was Graham Parker who finally solved the cube after 26 years :o)
