Explore more with this super-sized sunprint kit. There are 15 sheets of sunprint paper (20cm x 30cm) for you to create amazing designs using sunlight.
Part science experiment, part craft project, all fun! When exposed to light, the sunprint paper goes through a chemical change which produces an image. This is called the cyanotype process and has been used by artists since the 19th century. Objects that eclipse the sun’s light will show up in white while the rest of the paper turns a vibrant blue.
Create your own artworks by layering objects onto the sunprint paper. Expose your design in sunlight for five minutes before rinsing in water and letting the paper dry. Your finished artwork is now ready to display or give as a gift.
Sunprint kits were created in 1975 as a teaching tool at the Lawrence Hall of Science on the UC Berkeley campus.
