The storm glass consists of a sealed glass container filled with a liquid. The liquid responds to changes in the weather, allowing the observer to forecast the possibility of storms, snow, wind, rain or clear skies. It is a functional and extremely attractive room ornament. The item is 28 cm in height.
Watch the glass forecast the weather for you. The liquid inside crystalizes in response to changes in air pressure. This item is made of high quality glass with encapsulated liquid - not available for overseas delivery. 28 cm high.

The Fitzroy Storm Glass is one of those astounding little things that you happen to stumble across! I love it as it can, whilst slightly unbelievably, accurately tell you the kind of weather that is outside, as well as looming on the horizon!! This is because when the temperature and the pressure of the atmosphere change with different weather patterns, the water and crystals inside the glass change too. It’s a great gift for anyone – someone who loves the weather, using something ingrained in history (used by seafarers on HMS Beagle!), a fancy bit of science or just something AMAZING to look at! I would definitely recommend this to everyone, as it is a great gift or as something which is just inspiring to have. Also, if you like the Storm Glass, you’ll love the Galileo Thermometer with its coloured glass balls which float in different positions depending on temperature!

I would recommend this to a friend!
